Rosy Green
Organic merino wool from Munich – GOTS-certified, mulesing-free, machine washable.
What makes Rosy Green Wool special
Rosy Green Wool comes from Munich – and for us at BONIFAKTUR, that is not just a geographical fact, but a real reason to be happy. Here in our own city, Dr. Rosmary Stegmann and Patrick Gruban have built a company that does what we believe is right: high-quality Merino Wool, fully GOTS-certified, from controlled organic farms.
GOTS certification is the strictest there is – it’s not just about the fiber, but the entire supply chain: sheep farming, processing, dyeing, and social working conditions. When a yarn carries the GOTS label, you have an unbroken chain of responsibility behind it. For Rosy Green Wool, this specifically means: sheep that live on certified organic pastures without synthetic pesticides or antibiotics. No mulesing. Gently shorn. Then processed in Europe – in England and Portugal – by small manufacturers who still take Needlework seriously.
The result is a wool that feels just as it should: soft, natural, honest. And practical: machine washable. Everything a yarn should be.
Rosy Green Wool Cheeky Merino Joy
Cheeky Merino Joy is the yarn where you can feel the brand. Extra fine Merino Wool from Patagonia, so soft it feels like a warm hug. The yarn hardly splits, pills little, and thanks to its balanced tension, it feels pleasant in the hand. Sport weight means versatility: sweaters, shawls, accessories, baby items – everything is possible. With 320 meters per 100 grams, each ball is a project that can be completed fully.
GOTS Certification – What It Means
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the world's strictest standard for organic textiles. Not only the fiber is controlled, but the entire supply chain: from organic sheep farming through processing and dyeing to the working conditions in every production facility. Independent inspectors regularly check. When a yarn is GOTS-certified, it comes with full traceability.
This also means: no synthetic dyes, no heavy metals, no chlorine bleaching. The Colors of Rosy Green Wool are created through responsible dyeing processes in Europe.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where does Rosy Green Wool come from?
Rosy Green Wool is a company from Munich, founded by Dr. Rosmary Stegmann and Patrick Gruban. The yarn is made from organic Merino from Patagonia and then processed and dyed in Europe – in England and Portugal. All Yarns are GOTS-certified.
Why does GOTS-certified Wool cost more?
Because standards mean real costs. Organic sheep farming without chemical pesticides requires different methods – and that costs money. Independent certification costs money. Fair wages in production cost money. Smaller dye houses instead of mass production cost money. But the price-quality ratio is fair: You pay for wool that is traceable. For sheep whose lives you can know.
Is Rosy Green Wool also suitable for baby clothing?
Yes – very much so. GOTS certification explicitly includes the exclusion of harmful substances. The wool is extra fine Merino and very soft. For sensitive baby skin, this is a good choice.
Can I wash Cheeky Merino Joy in the washing machine?
Yes, on the Gentle Cycle at a maximum of 30°C with Wool Wash. Then dry flat. The yarn is durable enough for regular washing and also forgives everyday wear.
